Speckled Buff

Speckled Buff is a studio classic and my personal favorite for everyday throwing. This smooth mid-fire stoneware clay is loaded with natural manganese specks that shine through glazes, adding texture and movement to even the simplest forms.

Firing to a warm buff tone with soft speckles, this clay is ideal for mugs, bowls, and functional pieces that need just a little extra magic. It’s great for throwing and hand-building alike, with a soft feel in the hand and consistent performance in the kiln.

Recommended at cone 6, with caution if firing hotter than cone 7 due to possible bloating.
