Handbuilding Foundations: 4-Week Series is a beginner-friendly pottery course created for anyone who wants to build strong clay skills, learn multiple techniques, and create with consistency over time. With up to 8 students per session, this class offers a supportive group setting while still allowing for personal guidance each week.

Held at the same time every week for four weeks, this series is designed to help you build momentum, improve quickly, and feel more comfortable working with clay through repetition and practice. Whether you’re brand new or looking to grow beyond one-time workshops, this course is a perfect next step.

Over four weeks, your teacher will guide you through the full handbuilding process using techniques that can be repeated at home or expanded on in future classes. You’ll receive 8 pounds of clay to use throughout the series as you learn, experiment, and create finished functional pieces.

All levels welcome, beginners encouraged.

What You’ll Do:
Week 1: Foundations — pinch pots, slab basics, and understanding clay behavior
Week 2: Structure and attachments — build stronger forms and handles
Week 3: Creative work time — guided open making time with teacher support
Week 4: Glazing and surface design — finish your pieces with color

All levels welcome, beginners encouraged.

Class Details:

Location: 2132 E Bijou Street, Downtown Colorado Springs.
Ember & Bloom is located inside a secure building — please park in the back lot and enter through the green door with the wooden staircase. Your instructor will unlock the door for you!

Duration: 2 hours for 4 sessions (exact class times vary; please choose below). Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to settle in.

Class Size: Classes require a minimum of 4 people and are capped at 8 people to keep the experience personal and hands-on.
If a class does not meet the minimum, Ember & Bloom reserves the right to refund your purchase, transfer your spot, or combine sessions to ensure a great creative experience for everyone.

Age Requirement: Adults, 18+.

Price Includes: Clay, tools, underglazes, firings, and a fully guided 2-hour class. 

Firing & Pickup:

Your piece will be carefully dried, bisque fired, and glaze fired by the studio.
Please allow 4 weeks for completion. You’ll receive an email once they’re ready, and will have 2 weeks to pick up after notification.
Please opt in for marketing emails to ensure you receive your pickup notification!

Refund Policy:

Cancellations made 7 days or more before class can be transferred to a future session or used as credit toward another workshop.
Refunds are not available for no-shows or cancellations made within 7 days class time.
