Chestnut
Chestnut
Chestnut is a rich, iron-heavy dark brown stoneware clay known for its smooth texture and deep warmth in oxidation. Ideal for mid-fire functional ware, it fires to a warm, nutty brown.
This clay performs best when fired to cone 5 with no hold. Due to its high iron content, firing above cone 6 or holding at temperature may lead to bloating, so it's recommended to test thoroughly before production. While not ideal for reduction, it’s not discouraged; always test in gas kilns first.
✨ Available for local pickup in downtown Colorado Springs, no need to drive to Denver!
